Steamworld Dig (PS Vita) review!

Hey guys, Michael here with a review for Steamworld Dig on the PS Vita.

Steamworld Dig is a 2D sidescrolling mining game, not to far from Terraria, except in the regard that Steamworld Dig is all resource mining and no building. Steamworld Dig tells the story of Rusty, a lone steambot who has arrived in the small remote mining town of Tumbleton to claim his dead uncle's mine and discover what riches and treasures it holds. The gameplay of Steamworld Dig is mainly mining to find resources and metals to bring to the surface to sell for upgrades and such. The problem with this mechanic is that the surface is a long way up, so trips are annoying when they are frequent, but later upgrades somewhat quell this problem by allowing for the purchase of teleporters and more pouches for metal to be stored in. Another issue is that the game can become repetitive. Why? Because the entire game is just dig, sell, repeat. This mechanic is what hooked me, however. I was addicted to digging and poking around the deepest nooks and crannys just to find more metal. And when i died, it was bittersweet as the challenge of finding your previous loot is a fun but somewhat tedious objective. Finally, the ending. I thought i was maybe half way through the game when i fought what was actually the last boss. I beat the boss, went back on up to the surface and boom, games over. I was surprised when i realised that the game was done after beating what i thought was the first boss. In some respects, Steamworld Dig falls short. But in others, it can amaze
Overall, Steamworld Dig was an amazing 2D platformer, that just ended too soon.
OVERALL
9/10
Steamworld Dig is something to be savored, while you can at least.

PS Vita TV Thoughts

Hey Guys?
Unless you haven't heard, there is a new model of the PS Vita! Along with that, there is the PS Vita TV!
The PS Vita TV alongside a DS4

The PS Vita TV is a set top box that can play select Vita games. It can also be used as a PS4 remote play set top box so you can do a pseudo Wii U 2nd screen thing. The PS Vita TV Will have Ethernet, HDMI, USB and can play games if Phsyical games or Memory cards.
The inputs on the newly announced box

The little guy can also play PSP and PS1 Games, making the PS Vita TV a nice little device. I will most likely be picking one up to use for my youtube channel (I have one, and have had it for about 2 years, but never got around to making something proper, everything I did is scraped or pointless by now) and for fun. Because. Anyway, KXM would be awesome with a DS3 so I think I might be able to see that little box of joy on my TV organizer in the future.

Retro City Rampage Review (PS Vita)

Hey Guys!

I just picked up Limbo and RCR in the PAX prime sale and have some impressions. I've had RCR for longer (by about 2/3 days) so RCR comes first. Expect a Limbo review in the next week or so. Retro city rampage is an ambitious and beautiful demake (shout out to Eric Ruth!) of what seems to be closes to GTA III, but this game is even crazier than that, so I really don't know what to compare it to. You can drive, play cabbie, gamble, hunt for cheats and loot bags and, most important of all, "Blow Sh*t up". RCR was the first indie to be stuck in development hell, but with good reason. RCR is mainly a parody of GTA III, but parodies pretty much everything it can while fitting it all in nice and tidy at the same time. As you can now imagine, the game is open world, with world mechanics akin to its reverse spiritual successor???(kind of) and Skyrim(also kind of), leaving you to venture off into the tall grass and chase butterfly's. The glorious pixels of RCR look like a New 'n Tasty (Yes, pun intended) NES game (with shadows cuz #YOLOSWAG)
It looks great on the large OLED Screen of the PS Vita. They could do with some salt, however. The soundtrack of RCR is extremely well done. The chip-tune ballads of Norrin Radd, Virt and Freaky DNA. They sound just like those good days where there aint no static and ma beeper keeps beepin' (Today was a good day, G). The soundtrack make the purchase worth it by itself.

OVERALL
8.5/10
Today was a good day(RCR was 66% off), nothing more, nothing less.

GNS: Breaking bad

Hello, sorry i haven't posted for a long time now, I've been very busy with a lot of family outings etc. and will be maintaining this blog much more. Anyway, this is a General Nerd Stuff post, which are articles about pretty much anything you can find in a a place like Comic-Con or Fan Expo Canada (Fan expo Canada FTW!!!).

Just as of recent, I have started watching the AMC hit "Breaking Bad". I watch "The Walking Dead", so the greatness of this show was no surprise to me. I started streaming it from my Blu-ray and the show has blown my mind. Just season 1 has me more entertained than I ever was with Walking Dead. The whole idea of the drug business is so interesting, and the fact that the protagonist and our favorite cook, Walter White (Wonderfully portrayed by Bryan Cranston), is just a normal chemistry teacher with a low income and a baby on the way adds to the journey through getting used to the violent and cold world of drug dealing and addiction (And that goes for all drug variants too, kids!). I find that the cast is one of the best parts of the show, as well. Dean Norris is quickly working up the list of favorite actors for me, with Breaking Bad and Under The Dome under his belt. RJ Mitte also does a great job with the character of Walter White Jr. RJ Mitte actually has Cerebral palsy in real life, and has slowed treatments just for his part.

Before i start rambling to the point where i can't stop, Breaking Bad is easily the best show on television right now and for me, in history.

A straight 10/10, hands down.

Thanks for reading,

Michael
